UK Dog Friendly Stay's

UK Dog Friendly Stay's

I don't know about you, but I absolutely love taking our dogs on holiday with us! So much so that when we got married in Edinburgh we made sure the hotel was dog friendly and that they were full involved in our wedding day.

Here are a few of my personal Top Friendly Dog Staycations.

Kimpton Charlotte Square - Edinburgh

Nestled in the Georgian elegance of Edinburgh’s New Town, Kimpton Charlotte Square offers an unforgettable stay for you and your four-legged friend. From the moment you’re greeted by concierge Robbie—who becomes your dog’s “new best friend”—the hotel exudes warmth and a genuine love for pets of all kinds!

What Makes It Ideal for Dogs

  • No extra pet fees: Dogs under 35 kg (and even cats by request) stay completely free!

  • Comfy canine essentials: Your pup gets a cozy bed, bowls, mats, poo bags, and treats—plus fill-ups in the private hotel gardens which is fully secure.

  • Pet perks included: The team is happy to walk your dog for free, there are no breed or size restrictions, and you can even borrow a bike—imagine your dog rollerskating in a basket!

🎯 Dog-Friendly Things to Do Around Charlotte Square

1. 🏞️ Morning Stroll in Princes Street Gardens

Just a short trot from the hotel, these central gardens offer scenic moats, castle views, and green lawns—perfect for a peaceful walk on lead.

2. 🚲 Cycle Leeds & Leith Loop

Pick up one of the hotel’s bikes and explore a 17 km loop through the New Town and Leith—including riverside paths. Great exercise for both two‑ and four‑legged travelers.

3. ☕ Fortuna Coffee Bar

A short dog-friendly café hop, it welcomes pups with open arms. Enjoy artisan coffee and light bites in a relaxed setting.

4. 🍻 Evening Drinks at Brewhemia or The Garden Bar

End your day with a pint and a biscuit for your dog. Brewhemia offers ample space and treats, while Kimpton’s own Garden bar is both vibrant and chic.

5. 🕯️ Pub Visit to Sheep Heid Inn

Venture a bit further to Duddingston and you’ll find Scotland’s oldest pub, famed for its dog-friendly beer garden—with water bowls, a dog bed, and even a skittle alley.

🏰 Palé Hall Hotel — Wales’s Top Pick for a Pampered Pooch

Nestled on the edge of Snowdonia National Park near Bala in North Wales, Palé Hall Hotel is a lavish country‑house retreat that rolls out the red carpet for owners and their dogs. It’s regularly lauded in top dog‑friendly hotel roundups — here’s why it stands apart:

Why It’s #1 for Dogs

  • Dogs stay free — up to two per room — with no surprise fees.

  • Comfy canine amenities include bowls, treats, dog beds, towels, and even a dog gate if you dine in the restaurant.

  • Off‑lead freedom: 40 acres of woodland, gardens, streams and trails—perfect for energetic walkers.

  • Five‑star elegance: A restored Victorian mansion with AA Red Star status and a top‑tier restaurant, ideal if you’re seeking luxury with your four‑legged friend.

🐶 What Stands Out

1. Scenic Everyday Walks

A quick step outside your room and you’re greeted with enchanting woodland trails, peaceful streams, and vast lawns. Let your dog roam off‑lead, then enjoy cosy evenings by the fire.

2. Pampered Pup Experience

From arrival treats and comfy bedding to thoughtful extras like towels and dog gates, Palé Hall clearly understands what travelling dogs need—and love.

3. Flexible Dining Options

Well‑behaved dogs can join you in certain dining areas—or might dine in a private room for ultimate comfort. Staff just ask that you bring your dog bed or crate.

4. Luxury Extended

It’s not just dog‑friendly—it’s elegant. Fine dining, opulent interiors, and award‑winning hospitality offer a true indulgence while your dog unwinds.
